Only a handful of movies have captured the zeitgeist of Austin in the 1990s— this one did so to such an extent that then Austin Mayor, Bruce Todd, declared October 18th “Scary Movie Day.” We’ve got the receipts. No, not that Scary Movie, although there’s a great story involved in the title. Let director Daniel Erickson tell you all about it—in person.

Everything comes together in Scary Movie, with stunning set design by poster icon Danny Garrett, a rip-roaring score that includes The Butthole Surfers, and surreal plot twists, all incorporating into a film that punches far above its modest budget.
