The 6th Annual Nosferatu Festival returned to Austin, Texas on February 23-25, 2023 for a weekend of bands, burlesque, sideshow, films, and vendors celebrating the film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horrors. The festival was founded in 2019 by Gore Noir Magazine, and has been put on with help from The Darker Side of Austin since 2020.
This year’s Nosferatu Festival featured 3 days of Nightstalker parties at Kick Butt Coffee and 2 days of the Daywalker Bazaar at Come and Take It Live.
The Nightstalker Parties featured bands, burlesque, sideshow and a game show. As per usual, the parties featured a mix of local, regional and national acts. This year we were very excited to have New Jersey (not North Carolina) Horror Punk legends Electric Frankenstein as our headliners on Saturday with support from Evelyn’s Casket from Seattle and Castle Club from Austin with burlesque performances by Viridian Moon and Janie Slash. The Friday opening party featured the bands Coffin Fits and Blood Hammer from Austin and Tricie and the Phantom Punks from Houston and a burlesque performance by Vivienne Vermouth. Sunday the festival was closed out with a side show performance by Gay Satan, Sick City Daggers from San Antonio, and a scaled down version of Gore Noir Magazine’s SplatterGore-ies live game show.
The Daywalker Bazaar featured 25 horror and horror-adjacent artists and vendors, the annual Garlic-Eating Contest, the return of the costume contest, screenings of the winners of the 4th Annual Nosferatu Festival Vampire Short Film Festival and Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror.
