Revel in the Darkness: (SPF 1000) Vampire Sunscreen Launch Party

This summer, Laurie Gallardo, the voice of KUT and KUTX, launched her podcast SPF 1000: Vampire Sunscreen. In the podcast, Laurie asks guests just one question: “What is the darkness to you?” From there, the conversation takes on a life of its own.

If you know Laurie or listen to her show on KUTX, you might have heard her talking about the podcast as far back as 2019. Over the past five years, Laurie took her time crafting the idea and refining the concept—releasing a few pilot and test episodes and looking for partners who would help elevate the production.

On Thursday, October 3, Laurie officially launched SPF 1000: Vampire Sunscreen with a bang at The Contemporary Austin – Laguna Gloria with a party and live recording sponsored by KUTX. Guests were treated to free drinks and had the opportunity to appear on the podcast by visiting the Song Confessional trailer and answering, “What is the darkness to you?”
